Email Marketing Specialist

What did you do before joining Jagex?

I come from a marketing background but in a completely different industry - travel. My previous role was with The AA, the UK's largest breakdown organisation and one of its most trusted brands.

How did you first hear about Jagex and the job opening?

To be honest I stumbled across Jagex, I was looking for a more challenging role that was closer to home and I've definitely found that here! I wasn't familiar with the company before I applied but it's amazing what you can learn in a short space of time.

What's your current role at Jagex and how long have you been with the company?

I'm the Email Marketing Specialist and I've just had my one year at Jagex birthday – go me!

What comprises a typical working day for you?

No two days are ever the same here! That's the great thing about Jagex. On an average day I would touch base with each game department to catch up, reporting and analysing results, building new campaigns. It's still a relatively new role so there is a lot of ground work that needs doing. It's really varied and there are lots of projects I'm working on aside from just creating and sending emails, such as helping to combat the RuneScape phishing emails.

What do you like best about working for Jagex?

You feel completely valued here. It's really refreshing to work alongside passionate people who are here because they simply love what they do. The team I work with are great and there is always a bit of banter flying around at this end of the office!

What is your favourite perk or benefit at Jagex?

The jollies are pretty epic! It’s always a great opportunity to have some downtime with your colleagues and Jagex definitely do them with style. If you catch me by the fruit basket in the morning, you'll know that I'm a big fan of those as well.

What has been your favourite memory to date of working at Jagex?

It’s always hard to pick favourites, there are a lot of memories! I’d have to say, my first team jolly and really getting to know the people I would be working alongside. I feel privileged to work with such an awesome bunch of people every day!

What makes Jagex different?

The balance they have here. It’s hard work and challenging but it’s fun at the same time. How many places can say that?

Finally, what would be your one piece of advice for someone interested in your role?

Having experience is an unbeatable advantage, whether it's in this industry or another. Get yourself out there and most importantly, never underestimate yourself!
