
Graphics - Unit Leader
Jagex Ltd, developer and publisher of online games, seeks a highly creative, enthusiastic and energetic Lead Modeller to join our large, creative Graphics team.
This role is to support the Graphics team in the creation of models and art assets for one of our massively multiplayer online games.
Key duties include:
- Managing a team of 5-10 modellers working on large projects;
- Establishing and maintaining artistic consistency and style in collaboration with, and under the direction of, the Art Director;
- Positive coaching, performance and personal development management;
- Constantly reviewing and improving processes;
- Making team members feel involved and responsible;
- Implementing new initiatives/procedures and communicating with other departments to ensure all requirements are considered during the development process;
- Assisting with the recruitment process, handling documentation and associated administrative tasks;
- Accurate reporting on team activity, deadlines and issues.
Requirements:
- Experience of commercial 3D packages such as XSI, Maya and 3ds Max, working on a variety of modelling projects involving the creation of characters, creatures, vehicles and architectural assets;
- Understanding of quality control and a keen eye for detail in all areas, from artwork through to finished piece;
- Experience in managing small creative teams and large projects;
- Ability and flair for working within tight limitations, creating great-looking, low-polygon count models;
- Ability to be able to pick up new tools quickly and to think creatively when problem-solving;
- Positive communicator with the ability to work with staff from all areas of the company.
Also useful:
- An interest in computer games;
- Art and Design or equivalent degree.

Salary
£22-29k (negotiable depending on experience), plus annual bonus, private healthcare, gym membership and other benefits.
Location
Cambridge. Candidates must be able to work in Cambridge or relocate if offered the position.
