
Quality Assurance Manager
Jagex Ltd, developer and publisher of the massively multiplayer online adventure game, RuneScape, is looking for an experienced person with excellent team management skills and a thorough understanding of testing methodologies to take on the challenge of leading the Quality Assurance team.
The Jagex Quality Assurance team is not only responsible for finding bugs, they are an integral part in delivering the highest quality results for several games and software products. The team has over 20 testers at the moment – including 3 team leaders – and we expect it to continue growing as we launch new products.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced QA manager to join an extremely successful and stable company, and help drive our QA team forward to meet the requirements of our fast-improving environment.
Key duties include:
- Leading 20+ QA game and software testers (including 3 team leaders);
- Continual revision of methods, tools and concepts employed by the QA teams;
- Establishing a creative and productive environment through effective team coaching;
- Ongoing appraisal of team members’ individual performances, helping them to work towards their own continuous personal development;
- Working closely in alignment with the company’s overall business strategy;
- Building excellent working relationships with development teams and working with team leaders to ensure the highest possible quality;
- Optimising and maintaining QA processes, including bug-tracking management;
- Leading by example through commitment, passion and professionalism towards Jagex, the RuneScape universe and the gaming industry as a whole.
Essential requirements:
- Strong leadership, with relevant experience managing QA teams;
- Deep understanding of game methodologies and best QA practices;
- Proven time and project management skills with demonstrable ability in handling multiple responsibilities concurrently whilst working well under deadline pressure;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate enthusiastically, clearly and concisely to groups and individuals;
- Solid problem-solving ability and insightful approach to new challenges;
- Great attention to detail allied to awareness of the bigger picture;
- Real interest in computer games or RPGs/MMOGs
Also useful:
- Degree level education or equivalent experience;
- Experience in software testing methodologies;
- Basic understanding of game scripting languages.
