
Senior Software Developer
Jagex, developer and publisher of the massively multiplayer online adventure game, RuneScape, is looking for an outstanding Software Developer to join our Technologies department.
You will be working on high profile, challenging projects, developing cutting edge in-house technologies that produce fast, highly scalable web-based solutions.
Key duties include:
- Developing our custom web platform and cutting edge in-house technologies that produce fast, highly scalable web-based solutions;
- Designing and programming efficient, high-traffic systems;
- Maintaining and improving existing websites and databases as directed by the Head of Development;
- Provide recommendations for the introduction of beneficial new technologies;
- Leading, mentoring, supporting and training junior developers in order to expand and enhance their skills and capabilities.
Essential requirements:
- Proven programming experience using Java;
- Experience with high-traffic systems where efficiency and scalability is important;
- Ability to take full technical responsibility for all stages of the software development life-cycle, covering investigation, analysis specification, design, construction, implementation and maintenance;
- Good understanding of web security techniques and experience in eliminating the potential of exploits;
- Experience of working on your own initiative, designing and programming complete web or application-based solutions.
Also useful:
- Computer Science or equivalent degree;
- Good knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript;
- Experience of the development of online payment solutions and of working with third party payment gateways;
- Proficient skills using databases, e.g. PostresSQL
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux
- An interest in computer games or RPGs.
