RuneScape is a browser-based MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game); an online adventure game in which players from around the world can play simultaneously. As a browser-based game this means that any Internet enabled computer can be used to play; there is no need to buy or download the game, because it runs directly from our website using Java (a programming language).
RuneScape is a fantasy RPG. Although it is set in a fictional world, many aspects of the game are very familiar. RuneScape has its own economy, with thousands of items traded each day. The in-game currency is called 'gp' and allows players to purchase anything they might need within the gaming world. Their character can develop skills like fishing, smithing and crafting, and use their increasing abilities to complete exciting quests and battle monsters.
All RuneScape players have access to our forums, and members and eligible free players are also able to post messages. These forums allow our players to communicate easily with us, as well as with each other.
While RuneScape is aimed at adult gamers, some younger players do enjoy the game. We encourage the parents of these younger players to supervise them while they play.
