Community Safety

The Community Safety Team

Our Player Support teams are divided into a variety of specialist units. One of these units is dedicated solely to the well-being of our players. The unit is called the Community Safety Team.

A crowd of people

All of our Player Support, Community Management and Community Safety teams operate 24 hours a day in order to resolve incidents promptly. We realise that our products are enjoyed globally and we endeavour to cater to the needs of all players, wherever they may live. For more information about support for our games, please see the Customer Support sections of our websites. Here you can find information on a range of support topics.

The Community Safety Team works in conjunction with worldwide law enforcement organisations and child protection agencies on issues related to child safety, threats, cyberbullying and abuse. This includes conducting investigations into players who we feel may potentially pose a threat to the safety of others, and reporting any incidents which raise sufficient cause for concern. On the rare occasions when the team is contacted by Law Enforcement or Child Protection agencies, the Community Safety Team assists with enquiries and provides relevant information where necessary. The Community Safety Team also works closely with other Player Support and Content Development teams to make our games safe for all. The team also helps to educate players on topics related to online safety.

The Organisations We Work With

The Community Safety Team collaborates with a number of organisations internationally, and continues to develop our relationships in order to strengthen and protect our community. The following agencies are some examples of the online safety connections that we have established.

CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection agency)

The Child Exploitation and Online Protection agency (CEOP) is a UK law enforcement agency which is dedicated to the safety of children online globally, with particular emphasis on Europe, especially the UK. In conjunction with CEOP, we have developed procedures for managing a significant variety of different child protection issues.

VGT (Virtual Global Taskforce)

CEOP are also part of the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT) - a group of international law enforcement agencies that work together to protect children online. With members including the US Department of Homeland Security and Interpol, the VGT is a very important organisation in online child safety. With their help, we can ensure that our players will always receive the highest level of protection possible.

NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children)

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's mission is to help prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation; help find missing children; and assist victims of child abduction and sexual exploitation, their families, and the professionals who serve them. NCMEC was established in 1984 as a private, non-profit organization to provide services in the USA for families and professionals in the prevention of abducted, endangered, and sexually exploited children.

The Internet Watch Foundation

Jagex is a member of the Internet Watch Foundation, the UK Internet 'Hotline' for the public to report their inadvertent exposure to online child sexual abuse content hosted anywhere in the world and criminally obscene and incitement to racial hatred content hosted in the UK.
