Cambridge, UK – 15 April, 2026 – Jagex: The RuneScape Company, the studio behind the iconic RuneScape franchise, today announced the expansion of its open-world survival crafting game, RuneScape: Dragonwilds, into the Asia Pacific region with full localisation into Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
The launch represents the most significant international expansion in Jagex's 25-year history, opening the RuneScape universe to the world's largest gaming market, a region home to more than 1.5 billion active players and valued at over $136 billion, accounting for more than half of all global gaming revenue.*
The Asia Pacific expansion arrives during a defining year for Jagex. In January 2026, the company announced RS25, an ambitious programme marking RuneScape's 25th anniversary with the largest investment in the franchise's history, spanning new game content, live events, a dedicated game integrity roadmap, player-first design principles and franchise expansion into new markets and formats.
"Bringing RuneScape: Dragonwilds to players in China, Japan and Korea is a milestone moment for Jagex and for the RuneScape franchise," said Jon Bellamy, CEO at Jagex. "APAC is the centre of gravity for the global gaming population, and these are among the most discerning and passionate player communities in the world. Launching in their native languages is not just a translation exercise, it is a statement of our commitment to building RuneScape into a truly global franchise, designed to thrive for the next 25 years."
RuneScape: Dragonwilds launched into Steam Early Access in April 2025 and has surpassed well over 1 million copies sold worldwide. The game has already expanded into Latin America with Portuguese and Spanish localisation in September 2025, and has delivered two major content updates, Fellhollow, in December 2025 and Dowdun Reach in March 2026. More exciting updates will follow throughout the year. The move into Asia Pacific continues Jagex's strategy of bringing the RuneScape franchise to high-growth territories around the world.
Jon Bellamy added: "Our ambition is for Jagex to become a multi-product, community-powered franchise with a truly global outlook. APAC represents the natural next step in that journey. The survival crafting genre resonates strongly in these regions, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds, with its distinctive combination of deep skilling systems, cooperative play and rich world-building, offers a RuneScape experience in a familiar format to players in these markets."
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is available now on Steam Early Access at dragonwilds.runescape.com. For the latest updates, follow RuneScape: Dragonwilds on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X.com and Twitch.
