Here at Jagex, we do our very best to keep your information safe and private and will only use your information when the law allows us to. Privacy rules can be complicated, so we have tried to simplify things for you below to help you to understand what information we collect about you, how and why we use it and your rights relating to your information. What information we collect about you

When and how do we collect your information?

We get your information from you. We do this when:

  • you create an account to play one of our games;
  • you get in touch with us by email or via our website (e.g. if you need help with one of our games);
  • you enter one of our competitions or ask to receive one of our newsletters; or
  • you follow us on social media, message us or comment on our posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

Why do we use your information?

We use the information about you:

  • to provide you with an account and let you play our games or purchase products from us;
  • to keep records of who is playing our games and any payments made to us;
  • to send you information about our games;
  • if you take part in a competition;
  • to help us manage and improve our business (e.g. to make our games better for you);
  • to fix any problems that you might have playing our games; or
  • to make sure that our games are safe.

We can only use your information when we are allowed by law. For instance, we are allowed to use your information:

  • to let you play our games and provide you with any products you have requested; or

A lot of information that we ask you for, we need so that we can let you play our games. You can always choose not to give us your information but if you do so, you might not then be able to play.

How long do we keep your information?

We will keep your information only for as long as we need it or for as long as the law requires.

Who do we share your information with?

  • with other organisations to improve your experience playing our games and to help improve our business; or

  • if we sell our business or we buy or work with another business.

If you are in the UK or a country within the European Economic Area (EEA), we need to let you know that your information may be shared with organisations located outside of your country.

We will follow data protection laws to make sure that any organisation we share your information with complies with rules to protect your information and keep it safe.

How do we keep your information safe?

We have put measures in place to protect your information and keep it safe and to make sure that anyone who works with us keeps your information safe. We will act quickly if we become aware that your information is not safe.

You have certain rights regarding your information. These depend upon where you live and some rights might not always apply. You may have the right at any time to:
